The Temple of Understanding

A three-part inquiry into who we are, why we exist, where we have come from and where we are going.

Why “temple”

The house of the deity

The word temple derives from the Latin templum — a sacred precinct, the dwelling place of a god: the house of the deity. In ancient times a temple was not one building but a cluster of them, with varying degrees of access for different ranks of people.

In modern terms the word signifies a place of worship for all faiths, as opposed to church, synagogue or mosque, where each pertains to a specific religion. Adrian uses the word in both senses — agnostic in the true sense: not disbelieving in a Supreme Being, but accepting that it is impossible to know the nature of ultimate reality from a limited, rational and totally logical viewpoint. One does not try to define God, but accepts it as an unknowable and ultimate state of being.

In the other sense, The Temple of Understanding is a composite structure — just as the Roman templa was a cluster of buildings. It is not one simple thesis, but a work with many facets to its construction.

Personal Sovereignty by Adrian Emery — The Temple of Understanding, Volume I

Volume I

Personal Sovereignty

A journey to freedom

In this ground-breaking work, Adrian reinterprets the historical journey of humanity, arguing that we stand at the cusp of a totally new cycle in our evolutionary path — one ushered in by a profound leap in human consciousness. That leap requires overcoming a pervasive misunderstanding of who we are and why we exist, a misunderstanding that separates us from the divine flow of life.

Personal Sovereignty challenges us to take personal responsibility for our lives and take back our power from the collective forces of mass and social media. For without responsibility, there can be no freedom.

Discover the 7 principles that lead to

  • Overcoming self-doubt & anxiety
  • Unconditional self-love & acceptance
  • Dealing with the pernicious feeling of not being good enough
  • Discovering your own ikigai, or purpose for being
  • Moving from destructive co-dependency to joyous co-creativity
  • The correct exercise of personal power & functioning with dominion
  • Experiencing the wonder and inner peace of sovereign love

“What’s the point of being at the top of the evolutionary tree if you are wildly chain-sawing it at the bottom?”

Tao Tuning, the art of flow, by Adrian Emery — The Temple of Understanding, Volume II

Volume II

Tao Tuning

The art of flow — riding the wave of my life

In this sequel to Personal Sovereignty, Adrian takes the discussion a step further. In Volume I we learnt how to become masters of our own destiny by making sovereign decisions. Decisions determine destiny. Yet once we have chosen our journey, we still need to know how to reach the destination — how to flow with the all-powerful currents of the universe, the Infinite Tao.

We all want to live in the flow. Yet it seems so elusive. Why are our lives filled with friction, tension and conflict?

In this book you will learn how to

  • Live in the ‘zone of flow’, optimising life’s potential
  • Master the mechanics and metaphysics of flow
  • Discover your sole soul purpose for this lifetime
  • Ride the wave of your destiny to success and happiness
  • Align the three essential forces of fate, destiny and daily life
  • Become a master practitioner of TaoTuning — to surf the cosmic waves
